"We are not going to hide from anyone that profound character of Russian-Libyan relations which started to form way back in the 1950s. Gradual strengthening of strategic partnership between our countries, definitely, served and continues to serve the interests of both countries," Aguila Saleh Issa said.
He added that Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Libya in 2007 was extremely important for bilateral relations.
''The whole Libyan nation has a vivid memory of that momentous document that was signed in the course of the Russian Federation president's visit in the middle of April 2007. This document became a foundation for further strengthening of friendship and cooperation between our countries and a foundation for reaching big amount of agreements and mutual understanding," the speaker added.
According to him, Libya intends to continue deepening partnership between two countries.
Russian-Libyan relations were established during the Soviet era when Libya became a permanent customer of Russian heavy industry products.
