MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The world needs an international coalition against terrorism since it is possible that recent attacks in Istanbul were carried out by the Islamic State (IS, outlawed in Russia) jihadists, Alexei Pushkov, a member of Russia's Federation Council, said Sunday.
“The previous terror attack in Istanbul was the work of Daesh. There is a possibility that it is so this time. The world needs a global coalition against terrorism,” Pushkov posted on his Twitter account.

Earlier in the day, Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu confirmed that two separate blasts took place in the central Besiktas district of Istanbul at 22:30 local time [7:30 pm GMT], as a result of which 27 police officers and two civilians were killed.
The blasts occurred near the Vodafone Arena over an hour after a football match concluded at the stadium. According to the minister, one of them was allegedly carried out by a suicide bomber.
