Pakistan Hopes to Hold Joint Military Drills With Russia on Russian Land

Pakistan hopes to conduct joint military drills with Russia, similar to the Druzhba-2016 exercises, on the Russian territory, Pakistani Deputy Foreign Minister Tasneem Aslam told Sputnik.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – As many as 70 personnel from Russia's Southern Military District (SMD) mechanized infantry brigade, stationed in the Karachaevo–Cherkessian Republic, and a total of 200 troops in total took part in the Druzhba exercises which took place between September 24 and October 10, 2016, at the Cherat training range in Pakistan.

"The first one, it went very well. I think it was greatly appreciated and I think this next should be … here in Russia, we don’t have any confirmed dates as yet but we do hope that this process will continue," Aslam said.

She did not rule out that the Pakistani defense minister could visit Russia in the nearest future.
