The 76th session of the World Customs Organization’s (WCO) Policy Commission will kick off on Monday in Moscow.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Ruslan Davydov, the deputy head of Russia’s Federal Customs Service, will chair the session that will focus on the monitoring of the Internet commerce, interaction with the tax authorities, the latest customs control technologies, the fight against the illicit financial flows, smuggling and counterfeiting, the service’s press service said.

On Wednesday, Davydov and Kunio Mikuriya, the WCO secretary general, will sum up the session’s results at the Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency’s press center.

WCO encompasses 180 Customs administrations that operate on all continents and represent different stages of economic development.

The organization’s history goes back to 1947 when the 13 European nations represented in the Committee for European Economic Cooperation agreed to create a Study Group, which considered the possibility of establishing one or more inter-European Customs Unions in accordance with the principles of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT).
