    China and the US agreed in a phone conversation to pursue strong ties, a statement circulated by Trump's transition team said Monday.

    MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President-elect Donald Trump held phone talks in which the two leaders agreed to pursue strong ties, a statement circulated by Trump's transition team said Monday.

    "During the call, the leaders established a clear sense of mutual respect for one another," the statement reads.

    Trump told Xi that he believes they "will have one of the strongest relationships for both countries moving forward."
