The interview came after the US Secretary of State John Kerry called for an investigation into Russia's anti-terror operation in Syria for alleged war crimes.
Speaking to journalists on Friday, Kerry accused Moscow and Damascus of attacking Syrian civilians, saying that both the Russian and Syrian leadership could be open to charges.
Shoebridge, for his part, said that it is no surprise that the White House displays double standards as far as the Syrian issue is concerned.
"Washington lacks coherent policy on Syria because of the fact that the US foreign policy on the whole is subject to interests of various lobby groups," he said.
He also expressed hope that at the end of the day both the White House and Kerry will realize the fact that the comprehensive ceasefire agreement on Syria should be clinched "in cooperation with Russia, not in conflict with it."
According to him, Washington should "speak with one voice" with Moscow when it comes to resolving the Syrian crisis.
Shoebridge attributed the White House's inconsistent policy on Syria to a whole array of "competing influences" which he said come from the Pentagon, the State Department, the CIA as well as other state bodies.
It is safe to say that US President Barack Obama is currently unable to take control of his country's foreign and security policy, according to Shoebridge.
Meanwhile, the US State Department has tried to downplay Kerry's hawkish statement.
For its part, the Russian Foreign Ministry immediately dismissed John Kerry' statement.
The ministry's spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Washington was trying to distract attention from its own failure to implement a ceasefire in Syria.
