UN Security Council Meeting Shows US-Russian ‘Confrontation’ Over Syria

Venezuela’s Ambassador to the United Nations said that UN Security Council meeting concerning Syria on Wednesday reflected acute Russian-US disagreement over the situation in the country.

UNITED NATIONS (Sputnik) – The UN Security Council meeting concerning Syria on Wednesday reflected acute Russian-US disagreement over the situation in the country, Venezuela’s Ambassador to the United Nations Rafael Ramirez told reporters following the meeting.

"That meeting showed that there is confrontation between Russia and the United States, that was clear for everybody," Ramirez said.

Ramirez noted that Syria is still suffering from this situation, adding "We hope that the agreement will be established; that is the only chance for [UN Special Envoy for Syria] Mr. [Staffan] De Mistura to resume the political conversation."
