Argentina plans to expand its relations with Russia, President of Argentina Mauricio Macri told Sputnik on the sidelines of UN General Assembly in New York.

UNITED NATIONS (Sputnik) – When asked how he sees the development of relations with Russia, Marci said, “Increasing relationships.”

“As much as we can, we had nice talk with President Putin in China at G-20 and we expect to continue working together,” the Argentine leader said.

The president added that he did not have any planned meetings with the members of the Russian delegation in New York.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Marci met earlier in September on the sidelines of the G20 summit in the eastern Chinese city of Hangzhou.

Macri took office in November 2015, replacing Cristina Kirchner, who was in office since 2007.
