“From our perspective, the United States and the European Union have to realize that the exterior attributes of democracy, if taken too far in a condition when traditional values are being neglected, lead to a humanitarian catastrophe, leaving millions without the right for housing, water, food, access to education, medical services and most importantly – the right for life,” Alexander Lukashevich said.
Speaking at the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights' (ODIHR) Human Dimension Implementation Meeting in Poland, Lukashevich said that OSCE should unequivocally confirm continuity and parity of all human rights, including those set up in two international pacts – the Vienna Declaration and 1993 Programme of Actions.
“Washington has huge experience in interfering in [other states'] domestic affairs through military interventions, color revolutions, fighting all sorts of dissent, pursuing total surveillance and intervening into private life,” Lukashevich added.
The permanent representative also said that the United States is pretending to be a "role model" for other countries, but has to go a long way before it can actually correspond to that label.
