"China and Canada have multi-vector cooperation in trade and economy, the parties have agreed to prepare a feasibility study for the establishment of a free trade zone between China and Canada as soon as possible," Li said at a joint press conference with Trudeau.
According to Li, the sides must jointly send a signal to the global community to defend the liberalization of international trade and promote simpler implementation of investments.
According to a poll carried out by the EKOS Research Associates earlier in August, a growing number of Canadians would back a free trade deal with China. The poll revealed that 46 percent of Canadians would support the agreement, which is 10 percent more than in 2014. At the same time, another 46 percent would oppose the deal, according to the poll. In 2014, half of the Canadian respondents said their were against the free trade deal with China.
