MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Six Pakistanis and a Russian national were taken hostage by Taliban militants on August 4, when a Pakistani Mi-17 helicopter crash-landed in Afghanistan.
"We are doing every possible to free our compatriot from the captivity. The Russian Embassy in Kabul and Islamabad are in constant contact with the authorities and the competent bodies of the host countries," the ministry said in a statement.
Crew members of the Pakistani helicopter are currently in safe place and provided with all basis needs, including medical supplies, the ministry stated, expressing hope that Afghanistan’s and Pakistan’s efforts will be successful.
