MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian authorities will continue mounting pressure on Washington to speed up the release of jailed Russian pilot Konstantin Yaroshenko and its other nationals held in US prisons, the Kremlin spokesman said Thursday.
"The Russian side and Russian diplomats and lawyers are working on the case of Yaroshenko and the rest of our citizens who are being detained in the US. We continue to defend their interests and seek their repatriation. Although this work has not yielded immediate results, we will not ease the pressure," Dmitry Peskov said.
He was responding to a journalist’s question of whether the Kremlin would try to swap US citizens held in Russia for those detained in the United States.
