Australian Police Asking Moscow for Help in Money Laundering Probe

Australian Federal Police Commissioner Andrew Colvin asked Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev for assistance in conducting a probe into several Russian businessmen who had investments in Australia and suspected in money laundering.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Australian Federal Police Commissioner Andrew Colvin spoke to Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, asking for help in the investigation into money laundering cases involving Russian citizens.

Colvin spoke at a meeting of the heads of special and security services and law enforcement in the Russian city of Saint Petersburg.

The Australian commissioner said the country's authorities were conducting a probe into several Russian businessmen who had investments in Australia. The funds are suspected of having been obtained illegally. Colvin added that a request had been sent to the Russian authorities in order to receive assistance in the investigation.

Kolokoltsev said the Russian law enforcement was ready to provide help.
