    Syria plans to develop relations with Russia, Iran, Belarus, and bring economic cooperation to a new level, Syrian Prime Minister Imad Khamis said Wednesday.

    MOSCOW (Sputnik) Khamis additionally voiced gratitude for Russia's stand on the Syrian crisis and support for the fight against terrorism in a reciprocal telegram to Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, according to Syria's SANA news service.

    Tasked by Syrian President Bashar Assad with forming a new government late last month, former electricity minister Khamis heads a 26-member cabinet with 14 newly appointed ministers.
