WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The United States and Russia have established effective military-to-military communication channels to avoid miscalculations at sea and in the air, US Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter said in testimony on Wednesday.
“We do have…a military working channel to deal with unprofessional conduct and unsafe or potentially dangerous incidents. We have that at sea, we have that in the air," Carter stated. "We have managed at a professional military level to avoid incidents, and that has worked very well.”
Nevertheless, the US is working with its NATO partners to develop a new game plan to deter Russian ‘aggression,’ US Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter said.
"We are challenging our NATO partners and working with them to develop what I’ve called a ‘new playbook’ for NATO. A playbook that anticipates the kind of [Russian] aggression… that needs to be countered,” Carter state.
