WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The United States welcomes Russia’s efforts to defeat Daesh in Syria but needs precise information on who is being targeted in the town of Aleppo, US Department of State deputy spokesperson Mark Toner said in a briefing on Monday.
“If Russia wants to carry out strikes in support of our efforts to destroy and degrade Daesh or ISIL we would welcome that,” Toner stated. “In terms of Aleppo, I think we need greater clarity on what is actually planned and who we are targeting.”
