Syria envoy Staffan de Mistura dismissed recent media reports that the next round of intra-Syrian talks had been postponed.

GENEVA (Sputnik) UN's Special Envoy for Syria dismissed recent media reports on Thursday that the next round of intra-Syrian talks had been postponed.

"I have seen a lot of reports and messaging about 'are the talks postponed, are they taking place before or after whatever?' Remember, the background concept is very clear. The creative formula of these talks has been the proximity aspect," de Mistura told reporters.

"The concept and the idea has been and is that starting from the week of [April] 11 we are planing to resume the talks, so there is no postponement if it takes place on the 12th or the 13th, but it would be an anticipation if it did on the 10th," he explained.

The UN envoy stated that following his recent Russia visit, he also plans to visit Syria's capital Damascus and Iran's capital Tehran ahead of the talks.

"So I'm expecting to return…arond the early morning of the 13th or the evening of the 12th. Which means that the talks, as far as we're concerned, are planned to start on the 13th," he said.
