The reports that there could have been a personal motive for the hijacking of the EgyptAir plane en route from Alexandria to Cairo, which was allegedly forced to land in Cyprus due to the hijacker's complicated love life, have excited the Internet with many suggesting it was a wonderful idea and wanting to see what woman could inspire such an act.

The reasons for why the hijacker might have landed the plane in Cyprus have gone viral on the Internet.

It was earlier reported that an Egyptian man hijacked an EgyptAir flight over his estranged  ex-wife, who is residing in Cyprus.

Twitter immediately reacted with a flurry of posts and poems, falling in love with the romantic motive behind the events.

Some however wanted to take a closer look at the heroine behind the story who apparently inspired the hijacking.

Sputnik has selected some of the funniest posts.

Earlier in the day, a man hijacked an Airbus A320 en route from Egypt’s Alexandria to Cairo with at least 60 people on board.

The plane subsequently landed in Cyprus' Larnaca airport where the hijacker, a single male thought to be strapped with explosives, later released all the passengers.

The hijacker then surrendered and was immediately arrested.

EgyptAir has also now officially declared the hijacking to be over.

The reasons for the highjacking remain unclear.
