MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Earlier in March, Berlin’s prosecutor’s office closed an investigation into a story by Russian journalist Ivan Blagoi on the alleged rape of a Russian-speaking minor.
"I can only reassure our journalists. It has been confirmed that none of the Russian media outlets' work in Germany will be halted," Lavrov said at a press conference after talks with his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Moscow.
On January 16, Russia's Channel One broadcaster aired an interview with a woman claiming that her 13-year-old Russian-speaking niece had been abducted on her way to school in Berlin and raped by three Arab migrants. The story told by the woman later turned out to be false.
Several days later, German lawyer Martin Luithle sent a request to the prosecutor’s office to examine the story narrated by the channel’s reporter, Blagoi, as in his opinion it may have violated German law and incited racial hatred.
