On Wednesday, Russia's Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev finished negotiations concerning regional and international security and anti-terrorism fight in Vietnam.

MOSCOW/HANOI (Sputnik) — Russia's Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev on Wednesday finished holding expert consultations on regional and international security in Vietnam, where the two states expressed interest in cooperation in the anti-terrorism fight, the Council’s press service said in a statement.

"Nikolai Patrushev met with Minister of Public Security of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Tran Dai Quang, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and Vietnamese Defense Minister Phung Quang Thanh. [The sides] underlined the interest in developing contacts in the antiterrorist track, in the fight against cybercrime, drug trafficking, attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of sovereign states," the statement reads.

Russia and Vietnam also discussed cooperation in the fight against money laundering, as well as the two countries’ political and economic relations.

Patrushev’s visit to Vietnam was part of his two-day Southeast Asia trip. The senior Russian official visited Singapore on Monday.

The Security Council, chaired by the Russian president, drafts policy proposals on defending Russia's vital interests of individuals and the state against internal or external threats.
