UN Appreciates Iran's Cooperation With International Bodies

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad Hussein noted on Friday a high level of cooperation between Tehran and international organizations during a meeting with Iran's Secretary General of Human Rights Council Mohammad Javad Larijani in Geneva, local media reported.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the IRNA news agency, during the meeting, Hussein noted that Iran was on the front line of the fight against drugs and added that the United Nations was currently holding serious discussions to boost activities relating to health, sanitation and drug smuggling issues.

The officials also exchanged views regarding the situation with refugees in Europe and the Middle East.

According to the media outlet, the UN commissioner expressed willingness to visit Iran in order to hold talks with local judicial and human rights officials.

The sides called for a closer cooperation between Iran and the UN Human Rights Office of the High Commissioner.
