HAVANA (Sputnik) — Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia honored the memory of the Soviet soldiers-internationalists in Cuba, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported on Saturday.
The Patriarch laid a wreath at the Memorial to the Soviet Internationalist Soldier in Havana. Then the Patriarch and the accompanying clergy, including the choir of the Moscow diocese, sang the Memory Eternal chant.
The memorial was installed on February 23, 1978, at the burial of 67 Soviet soldiers and officers who died in Cuba during 1960s. At the center of the memorial an eternal flame blazes.
