MUNICH (Sputnik), Daria Chernyshova – Russia and the European Union need to restore the economic cooperation as the bilateral trade has lost a half in volumes over the past years, Kirill Dmitriev, the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, told Sputnik on Saturday.
Earlier in the day, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev held a meeting with representatives of Russian and German business on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.
"Specifically there was discussion that under certain conditions sanctions can be lifted as early as in summer which certainly will be a very important step to relationships, because trade between Russia and the EU, Medvedev mentioned this, declined by half in the last couple of years, so we really need to restore jobs, to restore economic cooperation," Dmitriev said after the meeting.
The possible ways to mend relations between Russian and German business were also discussed at the meeting, Dmitriev added.
