EU, US Conclude Digital Data Transfer Deal

Brussels and Washington reached an agreement on the transfer of personal data, according to the spokesman for the EU Commission.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Brussels and Washington managed to reach an agreement, which reportedly prevents EU regulators from restricting commercial digital data transfer, the spokesman for the EU Commission said Tuesday.

"We have a deal," Christian Wigand said on Twitter.

​The deal on the transfer of personal data is expected to substitute EU-US Safe Harbour agreement that was in place since 2000 and was proclaimed invalid by the European Court of Justice in October as not providing adequate personal data protection.
