Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that London's claims that Russia fuels conflict in Syria are illogical and cannot be taken seriously.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) London's claims that Russia fuels conflict in Syria are illogical and cannot be taken seriously, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Tuesday.

"Of course, such claims cannot be taken seriously," Peskov said, noting that Russia is making serious efforts to help Syrians fight terrorism.

"Therefore, making such statements is, of course, illogical, it is wrong, and most importantly, it runs counter to the essence of the efforts made by Russia," he added.

UK Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond said earlier that Russia’s actions in Syria could strengthen the positions of the Islamic State, which is prohibited in numerous countries including Russia.
