According to Rosturizm, Russian nationals in Turkey should take steps to ensure their safety due to information that Daesh may be planning to take Russian hostages.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) Russia's Federal Agency for Tourism (Rosturizm) said Wednesday that Russian nationals in Turkey should take safety measures due to information that Daesh may be planning to seize Russian hostages.

"The Federal Agency for Tourism informs that, according to competent authorities, the leaders of the international terrorism group Daesh [banned in Russia] plan to take citizens of the Russian Federation staying in the Republic of Turkey," Rosturizm said in a statement.

These hostages could be taken to areas controlled by the group and publicly executed or used as "human shields" against Syrian government and coalition forces, the agency said.

"In this regard, we ask all individual tourists traveling to Turkey to take all possible measures to ensure their own safety," the statement reads.
