"Tkachev will arrive in Tehran on Tuesday for a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture of Iran. The Russian Minister of Agriculture will be accompanied by a delegation that will hold several meetings with Iranian counterparts," the source said.
Among the deals expected to be signed are dairy exports to Russia, the source said.
"Discussions will also be held on reducing customs duties to ease the export of Iranian goods to the Russian market," the source added.
In May, the Russian ministry cleared imports from six Iranian companies – four dairy and two poultry firms – subject to additional safety agreements yet to be signed. High-level Russian agriculture watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor officials have expressed readiness to allow imports as soon as Tehran signs the agreements.
Iran’s Ambassador to Russia Mehdi Sanai previously told RIA Novosti that Tkachev’s visit would result in reducing import duties and expanding Iranian fruit and vegetable exports to Russia, following agreements reached by the leaders of the two countries.
Russian Economic Development Minister Alexei Ulyukaev has said Moscow was considering lowering or lifting import duties on Iranian agricultural goods, subject to a final decision by the Eurasian Economic Union.
