NEW YORK (Sputnik) — Speaking after a ministerial-level meeting of the International Syria Support Group (ISSG) in New York, Lavrov said some of the participants continued to call for President Bashar Assad's departure as a precondition for successful fight against terrorism in Syria.
"We have reaffirmed our position that, as the UN Security Council stressed on numerous occasions, the fight against terrorism cannot have any preconditions," Lavrov said.
"It is only natural that such calls were not included in commonly agreed approaches adopted by the ISSG," the minister added.
