Russia to Allocate $2Mln to UN Refugee Agency in 2016

Russia views positively and supports the work of the UNHCR aimed at consolidating international efforts at protecting refugees, internally displaced and stateless people, according to statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia will contribute $2 million to the budget of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in 2016, the Foreign Ministry said Friday.

"In line with a decision by the Russian government, the voluntary donor contribution to the UNHCR budget in 2016 will total $2 million," the ministry said in a statement.

"Russia views positively and supports the work of the UNHCR aimed at consolidating international efforts at protecting refugees, internally displaced and stateless people," the statement said.
