    Russia, Serbia Create Inter-Parliamentary Commission - Russian Lawmaker

    Russian parliamentary speaker Sergei Naryshkin said that Serbian legislature and Russia’s lower house of parliament have agreed to create an inter-parliamentary commission.

    MOSCOW (Sputnik) The Serbian legislature and Russia’s lower house of parliament have agreed to create an inter-parliamentary commission, with the first meeting planned for later on Thursday, Russian parliamentary speaker Sergei Naryshkin said.

    "We are establishing a commission between the Serbian National Skupstina and the Russian State Duma. Our joint decision on the creation of this commission was supported by lawmakers from the two countries' supreme legislative bodies," Sergei Naryshkin said at a meeting with Serbian Parliamentary Speaker Maja Gojkovic.

    The aim of Russia’s inter-parliamentary cooperation with different countries is to collectively deal with such issues as countering international terrorism, drugs trafficking, as well as ensuring national security and providing humanitarian on a legislative level, according to the Russian politician.

    Russia has maintained friendly relations with Serbia, which did not join the EU sanctions against Moscow.
