    Kyrgyzstan Defense Ministry said that first round of talks between representatives of the defense ministries the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) countries to prepare the joint Peace Mission-2016 anti-terrorist exercises kicked off in Kyrgyzstan.

    BISHKEK (Sputnik) The first round of talks between representatives of the defense ministries the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) countries to prepare the joint Peace Mission-2016 anti-terrorist exercises kicked off in Kyrgyzstan on Friday, the Kyrgyzstan Defense Ministry said.

    "The first round of staff talks to prepare the holding of the joint military anti-terrorist exercises Peace Mission-2016 has begun," a ministry spokesperson told RIA Novosti.

    Military delegations from five of SCO members states — Russia, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan — are taking part in the first round of talks that will last for two days and is expected to result the signing of a final protocol, the spokesperson added.

    The anti-terrorist exercises Peace Mission are carried out in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states once every two years. Next year's drills are expected to take place in September, according to media reports.
