UK Airstrikes Will Turn Many More Syrians into Refugees - Corbyn
MOSCOW (Sputnik) Moscow welcomes any actions in the fight against terrorism, but a coalition could considerably increase effectiveness, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Thursday in regard to Great Britain’s airstrikes in Syria against positions of the Daesh, also known as ISIL/The Islamic State and whose activities are prohibited in Russia.

“We continue to welcome any actions directed in the fight against terrorism, any actions directed in the fight against the Islamic State. Of course, we believe that if these actions are agreed and the attacks of everyone are in one united coalition, the effectiveness would be considerably increased,” Peskov told journalists.

Peskov added that Moscow "opened doors for the creation of such coalition."

According to the Kremlin, Russia is the only country which carries out airstrikes in Syria in accordance with the international law.

On Wednesday, an amendment blocking the launch of UK airstrikes in Syria was defeated in the British parliament. British lawmakers approved the extension of anti-Daesh airstrikes to Syria.

The United Kingdom has been conducting airstrikes against Daesh positions in Iraq since September 2014, as part of a US-led international coalition against the extremist group.

Russia has been conducting airstrikes against Daesh positions in Syria since September 30, at the request of Syrian President Bashar Assad.

The US-led campaign is being conducted without the approval of Damascus or the United Nations.
