It's Complicated: Iraq Says US Troops Would Only Hinder Anti-Terror Fight
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The United States will deploy approximately 100 additional troops to Iraq as part of the US Department of Defense’s specialized expeditionary targeting force against the Islamic State, Operation Inherent Resolve spokesman Colonel Steve Warren told the press on Wednesday.

"It will be probably around 100, maybe a little less," Warren said of the new expeditionary force announced by the Defense Department on Tuesday.

Warren added that the majority of the forces will be support personnel with "fewer actual trigger pullers… who will do offensive or kinetic operations."
