BELGRADE (Sputnik) – An international social-scientific conference titled "Yalta-Potsdam-Helsinki-Belgrade: In Search of a Secure World Order" has opened on Tuesday in Belgrade. The event is devoted to the 70th anniversary of the Yalta Conference of allied powers, the 70th anniversary of the Potsdam Conference and the 40th anniversary of the OSCE.
"Terrorists today threw a direct challenge to the very basis of our common civilization. We hope that during the forthcoming conference of the OSCE Ministerial Council that will begin in a few days in Belgrade, the OSCE member states would be able to recall the historic experience and express political will for uniting against common terrorist threat," Andrei Kelin said speaking at the conference.
According to Kelin, passivity in the fight against terrorism cannot be justified.
The current two-day event is underway on the eve of the forthcoming OSCE Ministerial Council conference scheduled for December 3-4. The main topic is international cooperation for global development and security in the 21st century.
