Vladimir Putin has lifted the ban on delivering technology for modernizing Iran's Fordow nuclear facility and reactor in Arak

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian President Vladimir Putin lifted a ban on delivering technology for the modernization of Iran's Fordow nuclear facility and reactor in Arak, according to a document published Monday on Russia's official legal information website.

The president also signed a decree lifting the ban on supplying Iran with equipment used to export enriched uranium.

In July, the P5+1 group of China, France, Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany reached a deal with Tehran to ensure the peaceful nature of the country's use of nuclear technology in exchange for an easing of economic and military sanctions.

Under the deal, Tehran agreed to reduce its stock of enriched uranium, decrease the number of centrifuges in the country and reconfigure a heavy-water reactor at Arak, as well as refrain from any uranium enrichment at the Fordow nuclear fuel facility.

Later that month, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Moscow would actively participate in the removal of uranium from the country, and the reprofiling of Fordow as an isotope production facility for medical and industrial purposes.
