Airstrikes by the Russian Aerospace Forces in Syria will not only continue, but will be intensified, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Tuesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Vladimir Putin said that Russis will continue the airstrikes in Syria.

“Our military operation with aviation in Syria should not just simply continue, it should be intensified so that the criminals understand that revenge is unavoidable,” Putin said during a meeting on the conclusions for the reason of the A321 passenger jet that crashed over Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula on October 31, killing all 224 on board and officially deemed a terrorist act.

Russia has been conducting pinpoint airstrikes against terrorist targets in Syria at the request of President Bashar Assad since September 30. The operation has been coordinated with the Syrian government forces.

Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed in September that the timeframe for Russia's air campaign in Syria would be limited to the Syrian army's offensive. The Russian leader ruled out the participation of Russian armed forces in a ground operation in Syria.
