The Islamic State has threatened to stage an attack in Washington, several days after the Paris bloodbath in which at least 132 people were killed, Reuters reported.

In a new video released on Monday, Islamic State militants warned that those countries taking part in the anti-ISIL air campaign in Syria would suffer the same fate as France, threatening to carry out an attack in Washington, according to Reuters.

The stern message was reportedly delivered by a man clad in fatigues and a turban; subtitles identified him as Al Ghareeb the Algerian.

"We say to the states that take part in the crusader campaign that, by God, you will have a day, God willing, like France's and by God, as we struck France in the center of its abode in Paris, then we swear that we will strike America at its center in Washington," the man said.

Reuters said that it was not immediately possible to confirm the authenticity of the video, which came a day after French fighter jets launched their biggest raids ever in Syria targeting the Islamic State's stronghold in the city of Raqqa.

On November 13, the French government described the Paris attacks as an act of war, stressing that France would not end its air strikes against Islamic State militants in Syria and Iraq.

On Friday night, eight extremists wearing explosive belts attacked several venues across Paris, killing 129 people at restaurants, the Bataclan concert hall and in the vicinity of the Stade de France stadium.
