MANILA (Sputnik) The AMM opened in the Philippine capital of Manila with a moment of silence for the victims of the recent Paris attacks. APEC leaders, with the exception of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indonesian leader Joko Widodo, will meet on Thursday.

"Our meeting marks the end of consultative intensive discussions, and our leaders will gather in two days. The delegations will review our work over the year," Secretary of Trade and Industry of the Philippines Gregory Domingo said at the opening of the AMM on the sidelines of APEC Economic Leaders' Week.

Foreign and trade ministers of APEC economies will review the work of APEC under the Philippine presidency and come up with the initiatives for the coming year, Domingo said.

Domingo emphasized that supporting small and medium enterprises remains the priority of the APEC agenda.

The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, established in 1989, promotes streamlined trade regulations throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

The APEC forum includes Russia, the United States, China, Canada, the Philippines, Mexico, Peru, Chile, Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam, Papua New Guinea, Malaysia, South Korea, Japan, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Brunei.
