MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Wednesday, the UK government concluded that the Russian A321 passenger plane, en route from Sharm el-Sheikh to St. Petersburg, might have crashed on October 31 due to a bomb explosion, and suspended all flights to and from the Egyptian city until additional security measures had been taken.
According to the channel ITV, citing Downing Street, the meeting is scheduled to be held later in the morning.
An estimated 20,000 Britons who are currently on vacation in the Red Sea resort have been directly affected by the suspension.
Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has already criticized London's decision to suspend air traffic, labeling the move premature.
On October 31, an Airbus A321 operated by Russian airline Kogalymavia, crashed in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula. All 224 people on board were killed in what has become the largest civil aviation disaster in Russian and Soviet history.
