MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Earlier on Wednesday, media reports said that a US fighter jet returning from combat operations in the Middle East failed to rendezvous with a fuel tanker and crashed 5 miles northwest of Lakenheath.

The aircraft crashed around 70 miles northeast of London, the media reported, citing Senior Airman Amanda Sampson.
The pilot is believed to have ejected, according to media reports. Emergency services have reportedly arrived at the scene of the crash.
RAF Lakenheath is the largest US Air Force-operated base in the country.
