WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The United States has designated four Islamic State (ISIL) fighters, including two Russian nationals as global terrorists, the US Treasury announced in a press release on Monday.
“The US Department of the Treasury today announced the designation of two Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) foreign terrorist fighters and one Caucasus Emirate (AKA Imarat Kavkaz) foreign terrorist fighter,” the release read. “In a related action, Treasury on October 2 designated an individual who recruited potential foreign terrorist fighters for ISIL.”
According to the Treasury, the four designated persons are Russian-national Islam Seit-Umarovich Atabiyev, Turkey-based Russian national Zaurbek Guchayev, Syria-based UK national Aseel Muthana, and commander of ISIL’s Chechen faction Yarmouk Battalion Akhmed Chatayev.
