MOSCOW, October 2 (Sputnik) — Moscow hopes the European Union will avoid ambiguous signals regarding Russia's military operation in Syria, Russian EU envoy Vladimir Chizhov said Friday.
"At the very least, it is necessary that they avoid such ambiguous signals," Chizhov told Rossiya-24 television.
The diplomat noted that union's contribution to Syrian peace settlement could be helpful, including in terms of economic recovery.
"It is no coincidence that representatives of various Syrian opposition fractions and the government have met twice in our capital, Moscow, to discuss further political settlement of the internal Syrian conflict. And here, at this stage, the contribution of EU member states and the European Union itself can be quite helpful, including in an area traditional for the EU; economic recovery," he said.
