WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — In Syria, coalition military forces conducted three airstrikes; in Iraq coalition military forces conducted 20 airstrikes.
In Iraq, airstrikes destroyed 11 Islamic State tactical units, two buildings, 15 fighting positions and a mortar position near. The aerial attacks were carried out near Al Huwayjah, Bayji, Habbaniyah, Kirkuk, Mosul, Ramadi, Sinjar, Sultan Abdallah and Tal Afar.
The airstrikes in Syria decimated an Islamic State training area and mortar system.
The 62-nation US-led coalition has carried more than 6,500 airstrikes on Islamic State targets since August 2014. US officials have estimated that the military campaign against the terrorist group has eliminated more than 10,000 of its fighters.
