ATHENS, (Sputnik) — Ska Keller said that countries generally were not following environmental laws and the UN-proposed climate targets, creating the breach of commitment to emission reductions.
"It’s a huge problem. We have the Paris summit by the end of the year. We have to ensure that we’ve got a proper climate target, that is actually going to be implemented," Keller, who represents the German Greens in the European Parliament, said ahead of the Climate Conference in Paris.
The United Nations Climate Change Conference will take place in Paris in December 2015 and it is expected that countries will agree on a global legally binding climate change agreement.
Some 36 participants of the upcoming Paris conference, including Australia, Russia, the United States and countries of the European Union, have already submitted their goals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
