Dozens of fishermen staged a protest against the US Navy's planned drills in the Gulf of Alaska.

About 100 fishing boats took part in a protest  in the Gulf of Alaska in connection with the US Navy exercises in the area scheduled for June, media reports said.

According to the fishermen, the holding of such drills could damage fisheries and endanger critical fish habitats in the Gulf of Alaska.

The US military, in turn, said that the Navy has carried out drills in the area for decades, and that no environmental harm had been reported.
