'Shame on Them': Greek Gov't Slams Western Leaders for Moscow V-Day Snub

Western leaders should feel ashamed of their decision to turn down Moscow’s invitation to attend its Victory Day parade on May 9, Greek parliament member for the Communist Party Liana Kanelli told Sputnik.

China's Xi Jinping Arrives in Moscow for Victory Day Parade
MOSCOW (Sputnik), Daria Chernyshova On May 9, Moscow will hold a large-scale parade to mark the 70th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany and the end of World War II in Europe. Russia has invited a number of world leaders to the parade. Only 27 heads of state and government accepted the invitation.

“Shame on them!” Kanelli said, speaking of those who declined to participate in the celebrations in Moscow.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to meet with the leaders of Egypt, Vietnam, India, South Africa, and the Czech Republic, as well as the UN secretary general on the sidelines of the Victory Day celebrations in Moscow.

UK Prime Minister David Cameron, US President Barack Obama, Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite and Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven are among the Western leaders who declined Moscow’s invitation to the celebrations.
