At least six people may be dead and dozens injured in north India train derailment, according to the local police.

Two coaches and engine of the Dehradun-Varanasi Janta Express were derailed at Bachhrawan in Rae Bareli Friday morning, TV channels reported.

Five persons have died and several injured injured in the accident, AP reports. However the accurate number of casualties is still unknown. 

Railway officials have reached the accident spot. The rescue operation is under way.
