MOSCOW, October 26 (RIA Novosti) - Many people have been injured in an industrial explosion in Sarnia, a city in Southwestern Ontario, Canada, reported the Canadian Broadcasting Corp (CBC).
According to CBC, the explosion happened at Veolia ES Canada Industrial Services Inc. on Scott Road in Sarnia.
Sarnia police, firefighters and emergency medical services already arrived at the scene. The nearby streets are closed. The cause of explosion and the exact number of those injured is yet unclear.
Veolia ES Canada Industrial Services Inc is an industrial cleaning company which offers services in the areas of environmental emergencies and the treatment of hazardous waste.
This is not the first major emergency situation in Canada this week. On Wednesday morning, the 32-year old Canadian citizen Michael Zehaf-Bibeau shot a soldier guarding the National War Memorial in Ottawa and then proceeded to Parliament Hill's Center Block where he was killed in a shooting with a policeman.
Earlier on Saturday several explosions have also been reported at the Sheraton hotel in Phoenix, Arizona (US) causing the immediate evacuation of some 800 guests and staff. AZ Central has reported that thick smoke was seen billowing from one of the utility rooms. It cited officials as saying an electrical issue could have started fire in the first floor or in the basement.
