MOSCOW, October 22 (RIA Novosti) – Members of the Australian Parliament have called for Jacqui Lambie, a senator from the Palmer United Party, to resign on Wednesday, after stating that Australia might be in danger from Ebola-infected suicide bombers, the Sydney Morning Herald (SMH) reported.
MP Craig Laundry said that if Lambie was not going to take her job seriously, she should resign from parliament.
“If you’re not going to take the job seriously, resign and put someone in who is”, said Mr. Laundy, as quoted by the SMH. “My father has told me from a young age, if you find yourself in an environment where you don’t know what’s going on, shut up and listen and learn.”
Another parliamentarian Rob Mitchell said Senator Lambie’s words were “bizarre comments”, quoted Australian 9News.
Lambie’s absurd statement had come during a Senate meeting, during which she suggested that Australia’s enemies could attack the country using suicide agents who are infected with the deadly Ebola virus or have access to bodily fluids containing the disease, the SMH said.
