NEW YORK, October 15 (RIA Novosti) – The US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is preparing for more cases of Ebola in the coming days after a second Texas healthcare worker tested positive for Ebola, CDC Director Tom Frieden said Wednesday.

"We're also planning for other eventualities in case we get more cases in the coming days," Frieden said at a press briefing.

"We're taking a series of steps to stop the spread of Ebola and this is going to require many partners to do their part. The second patient is ill, but clinically stable," Frieden added.

According to the CDC, 3 people who came into contact with the second Texas healthcare worker, diagnosed with Ebola are at risk of having caught the virus.

The two healthcare workers, who have tested positive for Ebola in the United States had extensive contact with Eric Duncan, the first person who tested positive for Ebola in the country. Duncan, who was a Liberian national, died on October 8.

The current Ebola epidemic, which is the world's largest to date, broke out in February in Guinea and soon spread to the neighboring West African countries. There is no officially approved cure for the disease, but several countries, including Russia, are working on Ebola vaccines.
